Congratulations to Hayward Unified School District for its $535,000 award from the California Department of Education’s Student Support and Academic Enrichment (Title IV) grant competition. HUSD’s Ready to Learn project will include mindfulness and structured recess activities for elementary school students during and after school.

HUSD was also awarded $53,000 through the California Department of Social Services Refugee School Impact program. This funding will be used to expand HUSD’s existing Newcomer Services program to offer academic, mental health, and other support services to refugees, asylees, and Special Immigrant Juvenile visa holders.

Congratulations also to Monterey Peninsula Unified School District for its $859,000 award from the California Department of Education’s Student Support and Academic Enrichment (Title IV) grant competition, for its Multi-Tiered Support and Engagement through the Arts initiative.

California State Preschool Program Expansion FY 2018-19
Purpose: To expand California State Preschool Program (CSPP) services statewide with an emphasis on full-day/full-year services. To expand CSPP services, this RFA funding opportunity is available to existing CSPP contracted agencies, to existing contracted agencies that do not have a CSPP contract, or to new agencies without Early Learning and Care Division (ELCD) program contracts.

Learning Communities for School Success Program
Purpose: To support programs aimed at improving student outcomes by reducing truancy and supporting students who are at risk of dropping out of school or are victims of crime. The LCSSP is the result of Proposition 47, which reduced the penalties for certain non-serious, non-violent offenses and allocates 25% of the resulting statewide savings for LEA grants.
