Congratulations to Hayward Unified School District for its $535,000 award from the California Department of Education’s Student Support and Academic Enrichment (Title IV) grant competition. HUSD’s Ready to Learn project will include mindfulness and structured recess activities for elementary school students during and after school. HUSD was also awarded $53,000 through the California Department of Social Services Refugee School Impact program. This funding will be used to expand HUSD’s existing Newcomer Services program to offer academic, mental health, and other support services to refugees, asylees, and Special Immigrant Juvenile visa holders. Congratulations also to Monterey Peninsula Unified School District for its $859,000 award from the California Department of Education’s Student Support and Academic Enrichment (Title IV) grant competition, for its Multi-Tiered Support and Engagement through the Arts initiative.
