Congratulations to Hayward Unified School District and Hayward Area Recreation Department for their successful Youth Engagement in Sports (YES) grant from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of Minority Health, amounting to $800,000 over two years. YES Hayward, one of 18 awardees in the country, will engage 300 6th grade students, and their families, in traditional and non-traditional sports and nutrition education activities at schools and community sites in Hayward.

Congratulations to Familias Unidas for its award of $98,000 from Kaiser Permanente for its Resilience: Trauma-Informed Care in Schools project for youth, their families, and school staff at Lovonya DeJean Middle School in Richmond.

National School Lunch Program (NSLP) Equipment Assistance Grant
Purpose: This grant will allow school food authorities (SFA) to purchase the equipment needed to serve healthier meals, meet the new nutritional standards with an emphasis on more fresh fruit and vegetables, improve food safety, and expand access. It gives priority to those SFAs that are high need and have 50 percent or more enrolled students who are eligible for free or reduced-price (F/RP) meals.

Social Equity Forest Improvement Grant Program

Crisis Receiving Services
Purpose: To provide same day emergency placement for youth who may be at-risk and who are not currently on active probation. AB109 Direct Services: Reentry Engagement Center
Purpose: To operate Alameda County Probation Department’s Reentry Engagement Center (REC or the Program) which will be located at 400 Broadway in Oakland, CA. The REC shall be a collaborative, multi-service, one-stop reentry center for adults under the Supervision of ACPD. The REC will replace the current Transitional Day Reporting Center (TDRC). The Successful Bidder will provide behavioral health and reentry services through a one-stop shop that adheres to the FACT model.
