Contract Grant Writers — Government Grants

Hatchuel Tabernik & Associates (HTA) is a dynamic and growing consulting firm committed to advancing equity and justice. Founded in 1997, HTA provides grant writing, fund development, strategic planning, capacity building, research and evaluation services to public and private organizations, most of them in the Bay Area. Our clients include public agencies, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, charitable foundations, and health care and social service providers who work in a variety of fields including K-12 and higher education, justice system reform, mental and behavioral health, workforce and community development, and many others.

HTA is seeking contract grant writers with experience in local, state, and federal government grants to support our grants team. We have written over $775 million in successful grants for school districts, local government agencies, colleges and universities, and nonprofits. The grant writing team works on complex proposals in a highly collaborative environment.

We are seeking experienced grant writers who are committed to HTA’s mission, to work on short-term projects as needed in collaboration with our in-house grants team. Duties include gathering needs and other background data, accurate and timely completion of highly competitive grant applications, client relations, and collaboration with clients/partners/technical experts to ensure that the application content reflects the agreed-upon project design and best practices and thoroughly addresses competition guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
* At least 4 years of experience in grant and/or technical writing
* Extensive experience and success in writing government (federal, state, local) and/or foundation grant proposals
* Content knowledge in one or more of these fields: education, social services, mental health services, workforce development, criminal/juvenile justice
* Outstanding skills in written and oral English
* Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Google suite, and internet research.
* Ability to work in collaboration with diverse client groups
* Meeting facilitation skills
* Ability to quickly gain familiarity with a wide array of topical areas
* Ability to synthesize information quickly into coherent text
* Ability to follow detailed instructions and guidelines
* Familiarity with logic models
* Ability to construct complex, multi-year budgets in Excel/Google Sheets
* Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment

* Sense of humor a big plus
