High School Equivalency Program (HEP)
Purpose: The HEP is designed to assist eligible persons to obtain the equivalent of a secondary school diploma and subsequently to gain improved employment, enter into military service, or be placed in an institution of higher education (IHE) or other postsecondary education or training. Mild to Moderate Reentry Case Management Teams
Purpose: To provide behavioral health and other services to eligible transition age youth (TAY) and adults with mild to moderate mental illness reentering the community from the criminal justice system. ACBH seeks to establish three Reentry Case Management (CM) Teams to provide treatment and case management reentry services to the priority population: criminal justice-involved TAY and adults age 18 and up with mild to moderate mental health conditions (MM) (including cooccurring disorders) who are eligible for Assembly Bill (AB) 109-funded services. Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program Purpose: To provide critical funding necessary to support state and local initiatives, to include: technical assistance, strategic planning, research and evaluation (including forensics), data collection, training, personnel, equipment, forensic laboratories, supplies, contractual support, and criminal justice information systems. Funder: Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) Applicant: Only California’s 58 counties are eligible to apply, individually or in partnership with other counties. Amount: Funding is set aside to equitably distribute it between the small (population less than 200,001), medium (population 200,001-700,000), and large counties (population over 700,000). The funding threshold is up to $220,000 annually for small counties, up to $715,000 annually for medium counties, and up to $1,045,625 annually for large counties. New! Reentry Projects (RP-3) – Young Adults Purpose: To enhance reentry strategies through collaboration with the field to identify and respond to emerging or chronic reentry challenges. This initiative intends to assist communities in planning and implementing comprehensive reentry programs to help young adults who have been involved in the juvenile justice system make successful transitions back to the community. The Department plans to award up to $4,500,000 each to approximately 7 intermediary organizations, approximately 6 proposing to serve young adults. DOL also plans to award up to $1,500,000 each to approximately 34 non-intermediary organizations, approximately 14 proposing to serve young adults.
