Higher Education Challenge (HEC) Grants Program
Purpose: Projects supported by the Higher Education Challenge Grants Program will: (1) address a state, regional, national, or international educational need; (2) involve a creative or non-traditional approach toward addressing that need that can serve as a model to others; (3) encourage and facilitate better working relationships in the university science and education community, as well as between universities and the private sector, to enhance program quality and supplement available resources; and (4) result in benefits that will likely transcend the project duration and USDA support.

Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Program (S-STEM)
Purpose: The program seeks to 1) increase the number of low-income academically talented students with demonstrated financial need obtaining degrees in S-STEM eligible disciplines and entering the workforce or graduate programs in STEM; 2) improve the education of future scientists, engineers, and technicians, with a focus on low-income academically talented students with demonstrated financial need; and 3) generate knowledge to advance understanding of how interventions or evidence-based curricular and co-curricular activities affect the success, retention, transfer, academic/career pathways, and graduation of low-income students in STEM.

Teacher Residency Grants for Preparation of Education Specialist Candidates

Computer Science for All
Purpose: To provide all U.S. students with the opportunity to participate in computer science (CS) and computational thinking (CT) education in their schools at the preK-12 levels. With this solicitation, the National Science Foundation (NSF) focuses on both research and researcher-practitioner partnerships (RPPs) that foster the research and development needed to bring CS and CT to all schools.

Opioid-Impacted Family Support Program
Purpose: To support training programs that enhance and expand paraprofessionals knowledge, skills and expertise, and to increase the number of peer support specialists and other behavioral health-related paraprofessionals who work on integrated, interprofessional teams in providing services to children whose parents are impacted by opioid use disorders (OUD) and other substance use disorders (SUD), and their family members who are in guardianship roles. Additionally, a special focus is on demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the specific concerns for children, adolescents and transitional aged youth in high need and high demand areas2 who are at risk for mental health disorders and SUDs.

Purpose: ACSSA is looking to partner with CBOs that can provide a comprehensive approach to outreach and enrollment that assists individuals and families through the entire lifecycle of a Medi-Cal and/or CalFresh application and renewal. Successful outreach activities connect with local programs and organizations that directly interact with the priority and target populations. Minority Fellowship Program

Grants to Implement Zero Suicide in Health Systems
Purpose: To implement suicide prevention and intervention programs for individuals who are 25 years of age or older. This program is designed to raise awareness of suicide, establish referral processes, and improve care and outcomes for such individuals who are at risk for suicide. Recipients will implement the Zero Suicide model throughout their health system.

New! COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP)
Purpose: To improve security at schools and on school grounds in the recipient’s jurisdiction through evidence-based school safety programs. FY 2020 funding may be used for coordination with local law enforcement; training for local law enforcement officers to prevent school violence against others and self; placement and use of metal detectors, locks, lighting, and other deterrent measures; acquisition and installation of technology for expedited notification of local law enforcement during an emergency; and any other measure that, in the determination of the COPS Office Director, may provide a significant improvement in security.

New! Mentoring Opportunities for Youth Initiative
Purpose: To reduce juvenile delinquency, drug abuse (especially opioid abuse), victimization, and problem and high-risk behaviors such as truancy. The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) supports a wide range of mentoring initiatives aimed at preventing and reducing juvenile delinquency. This multi-category solicitation provides funding for applicant organizations to enhance and expand mentoring services for children and youth. There are five categories under which organizations can apply.

YouthBuild simultaneously addresses several core issues important to low-income communities. Such as, affordable housing, education, employment, and leadership development.

Innovations + Intersections 
Purpose: The I+I program provides funding for large-scale and/or long-term innovative projects working at the intersections of (1) arts and technology and (2) arts and wellness. The California Arts Council is looking for projects that elevate imagination into spaces that have yet to be created or identified.
